Marc- this is exactly why I hate iTunes / mp3s - they are destroying the concept of an ALBUM as art. Thank god the Decemberists and Green Day are trying to buck that trend.

When I purchased, "The Hazards of Love" by the Decemberists I wasn't aware that the disk was a rock opera. I added it it to my iTunes library and rated songs randomly with all of my other new purchases. I was very surprised to realize that the whole disk is a story when I attended their concert in Calgary on Friday. I've never witnessed a band performing an entire rock opera, start to finish before, and was incredibly pleased with the results. I've attended hundreds of concerts over my life, and this one was one of the most special experiences I've ever had. I'll be taking in the show again when they play at Austin City Limits music festival, and am pleased to recommend that anyone else who loves live music try to attend a show on The Decemberists, "The Hazards of Love" tour.
