I've seen Yes, Asia and ELP countless times since 1972, And IMHO, this Yes/Asia combined concert tour was incredible on many fronts. First, Asia opened for almost an hour and they were spot on as they turned the clock back to 1981. John Wetton's voice was strong, vibrant and carried out with much depth. Geoff Downes and Steve Howe played an immaculate and lively set. But the highlight for me and many of us in the theatre was the awesome drumming of Sir Carl Palmer. From the first chords of Wildest Dreams, his charismatic intro of several songs and infectious enthusiasm to his spectacular drum solo during Fanfare of the Common Man, he brought the house down and really elevated the show. There will never ever be another drummer like him and any drum fan should not miss this. Following such a strong opening act was certainly a challenge for this latest incarnation of Yes. And replacing Jon Anderson's tenor and Rick Wakeman's legendary keys, was something we thought would be impossible to do. But Benoit David's strong singing voice is much like a young Jon, and one could not ask for a finer substitute. He looks or acts nothing like Jon which disappoints a lot of us old timers, but under the circumstances of Jon's extended serious illnesses, 'Little Jon' helped the band to carry on. Ollie Wakeman also played very well on keys replacing his Dad and he needs a little more time to make the position truly his. With this new youthful lineup, the rest of the band, Howe, Squire and White played well especially on songs like Machine Nessiah and Tempus Fugit, which were rarely played before with Jon as the lead. As I sat in the mezzanine to their show, their combined sound was flawless. Squire and Howe certainly carried on like they were in their 70's heyday all over again. Sure Jon will be back at some point, but for now this lineup suits me fine.

I totally disagree with the poor review.....I was pleased with the show I saw. If you expect to see them in their "prime" or to hear the 80's version of Yes, you may be disappointed. But for those who appreciate the intricate arrangements and the complicated individual pieces that make Yes ground breakers in progressive rock, you will not be disappointed. As for the singer, I thought he was one of the highlights. He sounds close to Jon Anderson, but not so much that you would call him a "clone." He was entertaining and did not overshadow at all. White and Squire were dead on in the rhythm section, and Steve Howe was fantastic. These guys are no spring chickens and you can't really compare them to other classic rock artists still out there because everything about them is complicated....this is not three chord rock we're talking about! I was impressed that after 40 years of doing this, they can still pull off this complicated style of music. If you like classic Yes....you won't be disappointed.

I have been going to Yes shows for over Thirty years and this was the worst show I've ever seen.Replacing Jon Anderson with David Benoit is a huge mistake. AVOID,AVOID,AVOID,this show!I couldn't wait for it to be over.Oliver Wakeman is a complete bore who is very un-inspired,Alan White looks and plays like He's tired, Steve Howe is still great and quite entertaining,but that's about it.I couldn't take David Benoit's cheesy,campy renditions of the old classics.They should not be allowed to call the band Yes.Chris Squire should be ashamed.Boooo!

Was there for their In The Present Tour at Maasey Hall. Awesome!!!!! What else is there to say that hasn't been said before. Benoit David made us proud. To see a fellow Canadian play with one of the greatest prog rock band ever, made me feel very proud. Yes, Jon cannot be replaced but face it, David fit the bill in the interim...Can't wait for the next tour!!
