Just saw a great show last night. A reincarnation of the Dead in "Further" at the Fox Theater in Oakland. Beautiful venue, an old art deco theater that has been recently refurbished and the Dead with the lead guitarist from Dark Star Orchestra. I could close my eyes and believe it was Jerry Garcia up there. Nothing listed on Pollstar.com Do you guys know about this? It was incredible.

The best show I saw this year was Wilco at Keystone Park in Coney Island,Brooklyn this summer.

My first concert, believe it or not, was the Jackson 5 tour in 1971. Their 1st.

I've seen alot of concerts.

But as of 2009, Antony & the Johnsons was rather cool. Coachella was one one of the coolest festivals I've been to yet. I've seen My bloody Valentine 3 times, which includes Coachelle & the Seattle shows. I'm looking very forward to Sonic Youth & possibly The Cult.

The Church 7/7 in Buffalo was amazing, and the Tragically Hip are ALWAYS the best live band going (Cleveland HOB (5/31) and Artpark, Lewiston, NY (6/2)) were both stellar shows. Honorable mentions to Zappa plays Zappa (7/2) and Ted Leo + the pharmacists (6/17).

as long as i see others talking about honorable mentions.....robin trower at the martini ranch (number 4) twice in the mid 70's at chicago's international ampitheatre...and of course the pretenders again at the dodge....last album very twangy...very good...chrissie the queen of rock...still this year to come blondie and benatar....the english beat with reel big fish...and the year is yet young....keep on rockin'...koster

Best show: Steve Winwood/Eric Clapton. Even when he is going through the motions, Clapton is the best guitarist most of us will ever see. Two solos in the first song of the night - "Had to Cry Today" - indicated that he wasn't going through the motions this time. Winwood doesn't readily rock an arena with his subtle style, but his musicianship was neck and neck with Clapton from start to finish. Chris Stainton on additional keys was a plus. Highlight of the show: "Little Wing" I'm old but not that old, and I felt I was living history to hear them play it. Runner-up: The Meat Puppets on the shores of the Ohio River, Louisville, KY in May. I read an interview with one of the band members and was enticed to attend...and they were brilliant! Original, pounding, mind-bending, and sincere. They can play punk, space out into some jams, then drop back down into country and western - like Neil Young's kids!!!!! Totally impressed me. Honorable mention: TV on the Radio - if you can'y get to hipster downtown Ney York City, here's the state of the art. Solid, rich and deep.

Bruce Springsteen in Toronto May 7th.

I've seen pretty much everybody out there that there is to see and nobody comes close to him. His performance have spontaneity, creativity and originality, something sorely lacking in today's music world. His songs have heart and feeling delivered only in a way he can.

Every other performer out there should see Bruce at least once to see how it should be done!

I have been going to concerts since 1975 and have seen well over 300 shows, not an awful lot this year yet, but I must say just seeing the Doobie Brothers with Bad Company take top honors. Paul Rodgers was in great form, very receptive of the audience. You would not know he is 59 years old, looks great and vocals were right on.

No Doubt put on, no doubt, one of the best concerts of the summer--maybe even the decade. I am 50 and attend concerts with my teenagers and we've seen loads of great concerts, from MCR & Papa Roach to The Who and Queen. Both the Gwen Stefani concert a couple of years ago (amazing choreography) and this year's concert (every song a winner, crowd on their feet the entire show) were incredible. Great stagemanship and hit after hit. That was following a great set by Paramore. Just a great evening. On the other hand, I was disappointed with NINJA. But, that could be because I'm not a great fan of either band, though I recall Jane's Addiction being more fun about 6 years ago at Lollapalooza. Looking forward to Offspring (they were great last year at Virgin Festival), Elton/Billy, Paul Mac, Aerosmith, Foreigner and Virgin Festival. What a GREAT Summer!!!!!

Springsteen..hands down. The guys almost 60 and is still playing 3 hour sets that are balls to the walls............he's in a class by himself....pick a show...they are all amazing......

I went to see moe. in Baltimore on March 28th. It was the worst show I've ever seen them do. Luckily the opening band tore it up.

The Bridge at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore 3/28/09 totally rocked.

Coldplay shocked the hell out of me how good they are in concert. Snow Patrol opened and impressed. Made for a great night. Also, a close second (tied) goes to Nickelback and Brad Paisley. They have fine tuned their performances and are well worth the coin. Seen them both 3 times. And a final shout out goes to Iron Maiden who I saw 13 months ago but blew me away, memory will stick with me forever.

No contest so far this year, Bad Company and The Doobie Brothers at Virginia Beach in June. Absolutely fantastic! Paul Rodgers truly sang better than I remember him on their recordings. He has obviously taken very good care of himself and was in great shape. Simon Kirke was great on drums, I've always liked his playing. The Doobies are always solid and you couldn't ask for a better lead off act. They more than hold their own with anybody.
